DBF After Dark: Music and Poetry Jackie Lynam, Molly Twomey and James Mahon

    Join us at our DBF After Dark Festival Club to unwind after a busy day of festival events. Enjoy readings by poets Jackie Lynam and Molly Twomey, with music by Kíla’s James Mahon. Then stick around after the event to meet and mingle over a drink in the bar.

    Jackie Lynam is a librarian and writer from Dublin. Her poems have been published in several journals and anthologies, and she has been shortlisted for the Anthony Cronin International Short Poem Award and Write by the Sea Writing Competition. Her writing has also featured in the Irish Independent and on RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Miscellany programme. Her debut chapbook Traces: Poems and Essays was published in 2023, and was longlisted for the 2024 Carousel Aware Prize for Independent Authors. She was recently awarded an Arts Council Agility Award, and she is currently working on a full collection of poetry.

     

    James Mahon is an award-winning musician and composer who has performed globally as a solo artist and with internationally recognised bands such as Afro Celt Sound System and Kíla. His work as a composer has recently been recognised with an IFTA award for score of the Irish film Arracht and with an Oscar Nomination for his work on the score of Cartoon Saloon’s Wolfwalkers. He is in high demand as a tutor doing master classes globally.

     

     

    Molly Twomey grew up in Lismore, Co Waterford. Her debut collection, Raised Among Vultures, was published in 2022 by The Gallery Press. It won the Southword Debut Collection Poetry Award and was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Poetry Prize for Best First Collection. She was awarded the 2023 Ireland Chair of Poetry Bursary and is working on her second collection.
