DBF at Blue Metropolis Presents: Emerging Writers Podcast
29 April, 2021 , 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm IST
Allow Dublin Book Festival, supported by Culture Ireland, and Blue Metropolis to introduce you to some of Ireland’s most exciting emerging writers with an immersive podcast hosted by arts manager, writer, and performer, against the backdrop of Ireland’s distinguished literary history, this podcast will explore the work being produced in and about the country by its contemporary writers. Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan will be joined by poet Dagogo Hart, and debut authors John Patrick McHugh and Megan Nolan, who each bring their own understandings of modern Ireland to bear on their work: Dagogo’s dual Nigerian and Irish identity has inspired his forthcoming multimedia poetry-film (Poetry Ireland), which focuses on the migrant experience of ‘home’; Megan’s novel, Acts of Desperation (Jonathan Cape), draws on the darknesses of Dublin to chart the unravelling of an obsessive love; and the small-town anxieties of John’s short stories in Pure Gold (New Island) are informed by their setting on an imaginary island off the west coast. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to go behind the scenes with each of these up-and-coming writers.
This event will be released on 29th April at 3pm on Blue Metropolis’ YouTube Channel, and is available for playback. Register below to receive the event link and a reminder email.
