Have fun with your creativity! Children’s writers, Lucinda Jacob and Sarah Webb, will share some of their favourite poems about dragons and horses, jellyfish and pancakes from the new book they have co-edited, I am the Wind: Irish Poems for Children Everywhere (Little Island Books), illustrated by Ashwin Chacko. Then they will help the children create their own rhymes and poems. Will they write funny nonsense verse like Spike Milligan, or an ode to beans like Zainab Boladale? Let’s see!

This is a schools event. Expressions of interest should be emailed to info@dublinbookfestival.com

Lucinda Jacob is a children’s writer and creative writing teacher. She has written (and in some cases illustrated) several books for children, as well as scripts for children’s TV and radio. She is also a textile artist and works part-time as a librarian. Lucinda often visits schools and libraries, to read and talk to children about stories and poetry, and she often works with children, helping them to write poems of their own. Her poetry collection, Hopscotch in the Sky, illustrated by Lauren O’Neill, was published in 2017 by Little Island.

Sarah Webb is an award-winning Irish children’s writer, creative writing teacher and Events Manager at Halfway up the Stairs children’s bookshop in Greystones, County Wicklow. Her books include Blazing a Trail: Irish Women who Changed the World (illustrated by Lauren O’Neill) and A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea: Favourite Rhymes from an Irish Childhood (illustrated by Steve McCarthy), both winners of Irish Book Awards, both published by The O’Brien Press. She is co-editor of I am the Wind: Irish Poems for Children Everywhere (with Lucinda Jacob), illustrated by Ashwin Chacko, published by Little Island.
