Join award-winning poet Breda Wall Ryan for a walk through the beautiful surrounds of the National Botanic Gardens, pausing along the way for poems from her third poetry collection These Are My People (Doire Press). In this collection Breda explores themes of family ties, relationships and one’s connection to the natural world, ultimately coming to the conclusion that she belongs to the Earth and that the Earth belongs to her, that all living things are her people.

The meeting point for this event is at the entrance of the main Visitor Centre.

Breda Wall Ryan grew up on a farm in Co. Waterford and now lives in Co. Wicklow. She has an M. Phil. in Creative Writing (Distinction) from Trinity College, Dublin. Her poems have been widely published in print and online journals, broadcast on community and national radio and translated into Irish and Romanian. She is a founding member of Green Kite Writers and Hibernian Poetry and was a trustee of Bray Literary Festival. Among her awards are a Yeats Poetry Prize, Poets Meet Painters, Dromineer Poetry Prize, Over the Edge New Writer of the Year, The Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize and The Dermot Healy Poetry Award. Her collection, In a Hare’s Eye (Doire Press, 2015), was awarded the Shine/Strong Poetry Award.
