    Wonder-Vet (Beehive) tells the true story of Aleen Cust (b. 1868), the first female vet in Ireland and Great Britain. Despite many challenges, Aleen’s love of animals meant she never gave up on her dream of becoming a Vet. Join award-winning children’s book illustrator and author Jennifer Farley for the ‘Wonder-Vet Workshop’, where Jennifer will read from her book, followed by an illustration workshop where everyone will learn to draw some of the animals.

    Jennifer Farley is an author, illustrator and designer from Dublin. Jennifer specialises in illustration for children’s books and maps. Her artwork is bright, colourful and sometimes, a little bit humorous. Jennifer has written and illustrated book including Wonder-Vet, Scout’s Best Day Ever and Island of Adventures. She has also illustrated several books with other authors including, Shooting For The Stars written by Norah Patten (winner of An Post Irish Children’s Book Of The Year Award 2019),  Take The Lead written by Elena Browne, and Astronaut Academy written by Steve Martin. Jennifer has also been part of the collaborative team who illustrated Girls Play Too written by Jacqui Hurley (shortlisted for An Post Irish Children’s Book Of The Year Award 2020 and Bliain na nAmhrán (Year of Song) written by Tadhg Mac Dhonnagaín (Children’s Books Ireland Judges’ Special Award 2017). Jennifer enjoys taking part in gallery shows and exhibitions and her work has been exhibited in Dublin, London and New York. She had her first solo show called Pocketful of Rainbows in 2015.
