DBF Bedtime Christmas Stories Ep.2
1 December, 2020 , 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm GMT
In partnership with Laureate na nÓg and Farmleigh House
Santa’s elves have been working with the team here at DBF to bring your little ones some Christmas cheer during this year’s festival. We welcome you and your children to five nights of cosiness and warmth as you curl up in bed with a cup of hot chocolate to listen to our series of Bedtime Christmas Stories. Why not choose your own Christmas stories afterwards and read them together?
DBF Bedtime Stories Series will take place in the evenings from Monday 30th November.
In this second episode, join Laureate na nÓg Áine Ní Ghlinn by the fireplace in the festive surrounds of Farmleigh House tonight at 6:30pm
The sleigh is packed. The reindeer are excited. Santa has checked his list and checked it twice. He is all set to go. Laureate na nÓg Áine Ní Ghlinn reads her festive poem Daidí na Nollag for children of all ages and the young at heart.
Tá an carr sleamhnáin pacáilte. Tá an liosta réidh.
Áine Ní Ghlinn is the sixth Laureate na nÓg (Ireland’s Children’s Literature Laureate). She is the first author writing exclusively in the Irish language to be appointed to the role. Áine has written twenty-six books for children, as well as five collections of poetry for adults. Her ambition as Laureate is to lift the cloak of invisibility from Irish language authors and books, encouraging children and young people to read for pleasure as Gaeilge.
Is í Áine Ní Ghlinn, an séú Laureate na nÓg, agus an chéad údar sa ról a scríobhann i nGaeilge amháin. Is file agus údar do pháistí í Áine. Tá sé leabhar is fiche scríofa aici do pháistí (scéalta, úrscéalta, filíocht agus drámaí) chomh maith le cuig chnuasach filíochta do dhaoine fásta. An aidhm atá aici mar Laureate ná an clóca dofheictheachta a bhaint de scríbhneoireacht na Gaeilge do pháistí agus daoine óga a spreagadh chun scíthléitheoireacht a dhéanamh as Gaeilge.
