In Conversation with Dil Wickremasinghe
Dublin Book Festival invites you to join activist and social entrepreneur, Dil Wickremasinghe, in conversation with bestselling author and beloved Irish comedian, Maeve Higgins. This event promises to be heartwarming, insightful and hilarious, as the pair discuss Maeve’s collection of personal essays, Maeve in America (New Island). Charting Maeve’s move to New York, the essays reveal the lessons she has learned about learning to live with yourself while figuring out how to love yourself, as well as reflect on some of the most pressing issues of our time, including identity, migration, politics and activism.
Maeve Higgins is a contributing writer for The New York Times, host of the hit podcast Maeve in America: Immigration IRL, and co-host of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s StarTalk. She is a comedian who has performed all over the world, and has appeared on Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer and on WNYC’s 2 Dope Queens.
Dil Wickremasinghe is an activist and social entrepreneur. She co-founded the mental health support service Insight Matters with her wife Anne Marie Toole in 2013, and in 2014 she was honoured with the Frederick Douglas Award as part of the Lord Mayor’s Awards for her outstanding contribution to civic life.
