  • Drumcondra Library
  • Free. Booking required

Giant (Little Island) by Judith McQuoid mixes historical fiction with biography to bring to life the childhood of celebrated children’s author CS Lewis. In Belfast of 1908, when the lives of two young boys from very different backgrounds collide, it’s a shared world of books, stories, imagination and adventure that draws them together. But can it last? Join Judith for a reading followed by discussion of themes, including the power of friendship to overcome divides.

This is a schools’ event. Age: 3rd – 5th class.

Email info@dublinbookfestival.com to book your class in.

Judith McQuoid was born in Belfast but grew up partly in Texas. She now lives in a small village in Northern Ireland, deep in the countryside but close to the city. Her homeland, its landscapes, and folklore inspire her to write authentic, enchanting stories for young people. Her first middle grade novel, Giant, was published by Little Island in 2025.
