The Faerie Isle Creative Workshop Síne Quinn and Dermot Flynn

    The lesser-known heroes and villains of Irish legends are the mysterious faerie folk. From trickster spirits to slippery shapeshifters, from the tiny leprechaun to the enormous giant, the mischievous pooka to the enchanting selkie, author Síne Quinn and illustrator Dermot Flynn will host a workshop on ‘facts’ and stories about Irish faeries, based on their enchanting book The Faerie Isle (Walker Books). Join us for fun-filled activities including creating your own drawings and stories on Irish faeries.

    Age: 8+ yrs (Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

    Síne Quinn holds an MPhil in Children’s Literature and is a Commissioning Editor at Merrion Press. She is the author of the bestselling book The Faerie Isle: Tales and Traditions of Irish Forgotten Folklore, which was shortlisted for a KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Award 2025. Síne also works as a creative writing facilitator with the Bookmarks programme at Trinity College Dublin – a writing programme for primary school pupils – and as a Book Doctor for Children’s Books IrelandShe was a writer for the RTÉJr book club for more than five years.

    Dermot Flynn is an artist, illustrator and designer based between Dublin and London. He has worked with clients such as Paramount, Apple, Disney and Adidas, as well as publications such as the New YorkerVogue and the Guardian. His work has won numerous awards, including the Macmillan Prize for Children’s Book Illustration and a Silver Lion at the Cannes Advertising Festival.
