Introduction

Founded in 1991, the Irish Writers Centre is Ireland’s leading resource and development organisation for writers. Its vision is to support the life of the writer, recognising the impact writers have in illuminating society with their ideas and words.

Entrance

The entrance to the Irish Writers Centre is up 5 steps and is on a busy road, a few doors down from the Hugh Lane Gallery and across from the Garden of Remembrance.

Transit

The Irish Writers Centre is a short walk from O’Connell Street, which is served by numerous city buses.

The Red Luas line, which also links to both Connolly and Heuston Train Stations, has a stop a few minutes away.

There is limited paid on-street parking in the street and around the corner.

Accessibility

The Irish Writers Centre is housed in a listed Georgian building at 19 Parnell Square. Due to being listed, the building is accessible only by stairs and does not have a lift. This means the building is not easily accessible for those with mobility issues. Although there are only 5 exterior steps, most of the Centre’s events and activities take place in the function rooms on the first floor.

For further information or to ask questions about building access, please email: info@irishwriterscentre.ie.
