2 minutes with… Renata Pekowska

Our walking tours prove so popular every year, so what better way to enjoy some mindful time, tapping into your creativity, than with visual artist Renata Pekowska, who will be leading a sketching walking tour around the grounds of Chester Beatty and Dublin Castle at this year’s festival? We caught up with her to find out a little bit more.
You have a very varied creative background as a visual artist, researcher and art and design educator, with further experience in architectural studies, craft design, art critical theory, and creative digital media. Has sketching always been something you have enjoyed?
Definitely! There is so much to sketching – it is a way of thinking, it shows the way you look at things. When you start drawing something, you really start looking at it. So there is this mindfulness aspect to it too, it is very relaxing, it takes your mind off everything else.
For our DBF event you’ll be bringing people around the grounds of Dublin Castle. Have you another place around Dublin that you love to sketch?
There are a couple, I really love drawing in the Botanic Gardens for instance.
What other Dublin Book Festival events are you most looking forward to this year?
