Introduction

The Royal Irish Academy is a beautiful and historic building in the heart of Dublin City, located on Dawson St, which is a busy cultural street with many shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. 

Entrance

The main entrance has steps leading up to the front door. Wheelchair users or those needing step-free access will find a ramp to the basement entrance on the right-hand side of the stairs. 

Transit

The Green Luas line goes along Dawson St, with a stop just down from the Royal Irish Academy. The central Stephen’s Green Luas stop is just around the corner.

Pearse St DART station is a 14 minute walk away.

Numerous buses serve the immediate area, including St Stephen’s Green, Dawson Street and Nassau Street.

The Aircoach service, which leaves every fifteen minutes from Dublin Airport, stops on Kildare Street, which is a 5-minute walk from the Royal Irish Academy.

To avoid city traffic, consider parking at the Luas Green line car parking Car Parking – Luas and taking the Luas to the Dawson Street. 

Accessibility

Upon entering, staff at the main reception will show you through to the event space.

Dublin Book Festival events take place in the Meeting Room, located at the back of the building. To get there, you’ll go past the library.

A platform lift goes up from the basement to the ground floor level, for those who used the basement entrance, and is operated manually by staff. Please email accessofficer@ria.ie before your visit to let them know your needs.

The accessible bathroom is in the basement and includes a baby changing table.

Additional Information

All three meeting rooms at the Royal Irish Academy and the reception area are equipped with hearing loops to support visitors with hearing aids.
