PANDEMONIUM: Live Comics Readings Phil Barrett, Alan Dunne and Katherine Foyle in conversation with Eoin Rogers

Publishing some of Ireland’s most exciting and innovative comics, PANDEMONIUM is a new literary journal dedicated to publishing short-form fiction and non-fiction comics. This event features three of Ireland’s leading comics creators and contributors to the first issue of PANDEMONIUM, Phil Barrett, Alan Dunne and Katherine Foyle, who will read from their work and join editor Eoin Rogers in-conversation to discuss their work and how they went about putting together their pieces for the journal. 

Philip Barrett is a comic artist, illustrator, graphic recorder and comics educator originally from Co. Donegal. He illustrated the children’s book best-sellers “Where’s Larry?” and “Where’s Larry this time”, as well as Limerick-set graphic novel “Savage Town” with the writer Declan Shalvey. He illustrated the famous “Only Massive Map of Dublin” for the Little Museum of Dublin. Philip’s illustrations and comics have appeared in numerous publications. He has been self-publishing his comic “Matter” for almost two decades. 

Alan Dunne is an award-winning freelance illustrator from Ireland. His unique style blends digital and traditional processes with occasional paper-craft. His work has been used in children’s and young adult publications, graphic novels, editorial pieces, advertising campaigns, postage stamps, museums, restaurants, and visitor centres. In his work, Alan places great emphasis on storytelling and historical research, bringing his characters and details to life. His impressive work includes the book ‘The Great Irish History Book’ written by Myles Dungan and published by Gill. Alan spent 12 years as a motion designer for RTÉ television before pursuing illustration full time. He loves incorporating motion and animation into his work. Alan is a member of Illustrators Ireland, the Association of Illustrators, and the Society of Authors, and lectures part-time at NCAD, Dublin.

Katherine Foyle is a Dublin-based comics creator and illustrator. They received a BA Hons in Visual Communications and History of Art & Design in 2013 from the NCAD. She loves expressive hand-lettering and creating immersive stories in any medium. Katherine is a Dublin-based creative who has been working in video editing and directing since 2013, specialising in documentary and corporate video. She is currently directing feature length documentary The Bee Team for Up On Blue Bridge Productions, of which she is a co-founder.

Eoin Rogers is a writer and literary programmer from Dublin. In 2024 Holy Show commissioned his comics to feature in an exhibition in the Museum of Literature Ireland. He is the editor and publisher of PANDEMONIUM, Ireland’s first literary journal dedicated to comics.
