Travel back to 1950s Ireland as Sarah Webb, author of The Bookshop Sisters (O’Brien Press), describes a time when things were very different, especially for girls and women. Discover some of the amazing writers who lived near Baggot Street, like Mary Lavin and Patrick Kavanagh. Plus find out how a bookshop is run and help Sarah pick the perfect books for a children’s bookshop!

Sarah Webb is an award-winning Irish children’s author. She is also the Events Manager at Halfway up the Stairs children’s bookshop in Greystones, Co Wicklow and runs creative writing clubs for young writers. Her historical novels for children include The Weather Girls, inspired by real WW2 events in Ireland and The Bookshop Sisters, set in 1950s Dublin. Sarah is passionate about bringing children and books together and has been awarded both the Children’s Books Ireland Award for Outstanding Contribution to Children’s Books, and the Library Association of Ireland President’s Medal for her work promoting children’s books and libraries.
