Published 17/10/2025
Dublin Book Festival is a festival that weaves our love of books into the cultural fabric of our city, and no less as the evening kicks in. Our DBF After Dark strand invites audiences to experience the best of Dublin’s cultural nightlife in a whole new way. As darkness descends around the city and the lights come on, our evening events, taking place in vibrant and intimate venues all around the city, bring you the best in prose, poetry and music. Join us for lively conversations, readings and performances as the city’s nightlights and vibrant atmosphere surround you.
Read on for a spotlight on just some of the great events happening after dark, and visit our website to see the full DBF After Dark strand.
Our DBF After Dark Festival Club at Bartley’s Lounge in The Grafton Hotel will be a hive of cultural events and entertainment over three evenings of the festival.
On Thursday 6 November we have a jam-packed evening of events for you, from Emerging Voices exploring four captivating debut novels to Keith Donald‘s immersive one-man show, NewBliss, brought to you through verse, prose and music. We’ll be winding up with an evening of eclectic DJ sets as our writers put the pens down and the volume up!
On Friday 7 November if you have a big love for the short form then Short Stories in Focus will draw you in as we explore three powerful short-story collections. Then stick around for Echoes on the Page delving into stories and writing inspired by music, art and film.
On our final evening on the Saturday 8 November, come along for IMRAM’s Móroíche Filíochta agus Ceoil or join us for a late conversation around three absorbing and transportive novels at Modern Fables, Ancient Ghosts.
Our After Dark strand spreads beyond our Festival Club and out to venues across the city.
In the heart of Temple Bar’s cultural district at The New Theatre, we have two great evenings of poetry lined up. On the Friday, hear four contemporary poets exploring Poetry and the Duty of Care, or enjoy performances from some of the freshest new voices writing poetry today in both Irish and English, at the Poetry Ireland Introductions | Céadlínte showcases, taking place on both the Friday and the Saturday evening. Or why not join us for a book launch in The Gutter Bookshop?
We’ll also have two events over at MoLI for First Fridays, including another exciting debut novels event Shadows of Our Past.
And these are just a selection of our great events taking place after the sun goes down. Visit our website to see the full DBF After Dark strand, where you’ll find more on book launches, spoken word, and further lively evening book chat events.
We’re delighted to be supported by Dublin City Council’s Night-Time Economy Advisor once again this year, as we contribute to Dublin’s rich offerings of night-time cultural experiences. Find out more at https://dublin.ie/live/dublin-nights/
