DBF Celebrates Winter in Dublin

November is just around the corner, which means it’s time for Fáilte Ireland’s Winter in Dublin campaign to kick in again. Running from the start of November through to the end of January, Winter in Dublin celebrates our capital as a vibrant and dynamic cultural city to spend the winter months in.

At Dublin Book Festival we’re excited to be taking part again, inviting audiences and visitors to discover the very best of Ireland’s literature while exploring the city with us, with over 100 events taking place throughout the city from November 5 – 9. From heritage cultural venues and libraries to bookshops and bars, our programme weaves its way into the cultural fabric of our city, while celebrating writers, illustrators and publishers from throughout the island.

Our Festival Hub this year is at IMMA Venues in the historic grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, beside the Irish Museum of Modern Art. With over 40 events taking place there across the weekend of Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November, book lovers will be able to enjoy everything from author events with some of Ireland’s most exciting contemporary authors discussing their latest books and panel discussions on fascinating moments and movements from Irish history, to writing workshops, walking tours, and family events.

As the sun goes down and the lights come on all around the city, the DBF After Dark strand fills the winter evenings with literary and cultural delights, contributing to the city’s vibrant night-time atmosphere. Three lively evenings of events take place at Bartley’s Lounge in the The Grafton Hotel, just off Dublin’s busy Grafton Street. From events around exciting debut authors to events blending literature and music, Bartley’s will be the official DBF After Dark Festival Club for authors and audiences to mingle and kick back after a day of events. A number of events also take place in Dublin’s buzzing Temple Bar district, from poetry showcase evenings with the freshest voices writing in both Irish and English, to book launches, with further evening events in venues across the city.
