Published 22/02/2024
We are delighted to announce DBF Spotlight, a spring series of pop-up events taking place from March to May 2024. Shining a light on Ireland’s writers, venues and locations.
On March 13th, join us for a special evening book launch event at 1WML in the Windmill Quarter as leading Irish crime writer Jane Casey will be in conversation with TV presenter, broadcaster and Ireland Am co-host Muireann O’Connell about her gripping new crime thriller A Stranger in the Family.
On March 20th, join us for an intimate event at the Brooks Hotel Cinema Club as debut novelists Cathy Sweeney and Anne Walsh Donnelly will be in conversation with Nadine O’Regan about their recently published debuts, Breakdown (W&N) and He Used to Be Me (New Island)
On April 10th, join us for an inspiring and empowering in-person evening as author and performance psychologist Gerry Hussey discusses his groundbreaking new book The Freedom Within (Hachette Ireland) with broadcaster Clare McKenna at 1WML in the Windmill Quarter.
For this spring series, we are excited to be taking a step outside Dublin to partner with two stunning new venues in Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, for two special walks.
On April 13th, writer and nature expert Tom Gunning will be leading a walk around the stunning gardens of Powerscourt House and Estate in Enniskerry, sharing insights from his latest book Nature’s Way: A Guide to Green Therapy (Beehive).
On May 2nd, writer and ecologist Donna Mullen will be leading a walk around the beautiful National Botanic Gardens at Kilmacurragh, based on her forthcoming book Make Your Home A Nature Reserve (April 2024, The O’Brien Press).
We are also delighted to announce that we will once again be partnering with the Irish Writers Centre on the Foundation Programme this spring. The Foundation Programme is aimed at emerging writers typically underrepresented in Irish literature. This programme will involve a number of supports for emerging writers, including a free course, mentorship and a day of curated talks from professionals in the Irish literary industry, as well as an additional opportunity to perform a new piece of writing at this year’s Dublin Book Festival.
We’re excited to be bringing you these events and announcements, and hope you will come and discover with DBF this spring.
