Departing from DBF…

Here at DBF HQ we’ve been busy collaborating with some of the other fantastic Festivals out there. We are so thrilled to be presenting the following events:

STAND UP, SPEAK OUT
BELFAST BOOK FESTIVAL
16th JUNE

Dublin Book Festival are delighted to be partnering with Belfast Book Festival for an important event with authors Sarah Grace and Mia Döring. Sexual violence is a subject that has long been mistreated by the media and public opinion, often at the expense of the women who have suffered from it. Both Sarah Grace and Mia Döring have first hand experience of sexual violence. For the first time they will sit down together with activist and academic Monica McWilliams to discuss violence against women along with their own powerful accounts of surviving, healing and thriving.
Taking place on Thursday the 16th June at The Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast, this event is sure to contain some difficult but ultimately uplifting, affirming elements. It is recommended for ages 16 and over.

WAKING LIGHT
WEST CORK LITERARY FESTIVAL
13th JULY

Waking Light is the result of a collaboration between writers Mícheál McCann and Kerri ní Dochartaigh and photographer Michelle Moloney. Recognising that events like the solstice and other transformative natural cycles both ground and elevate us, Waking Light is a hymn that sings of the shift in the light – the constant source of life – amidst the backdrop of a rapidly changing world. Filled with hope and elegy, these evocative reflections offer a measure of grace, solace and renewal. This limited run of 300 beautiful accordion books will be handmade by artist and bookbinder Éilís Murphy of Folded Leaf. Waking Light will be published by Skein Press on 21 June to mark the Summer Solstice, 2022.
