Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor: End Times Fascism In conversation with Sally Hayden

Dublin Book Festival is delighted to welcome renowned writers and activists Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor to Dublin to discuss their forthcoming book, End Times Fascism: And the Fight for the Living World. This blistering reckoning with our age takes us deep into today’s man-made Armageddon complex – and shows us how to stand against it before it’s too late.

An award-winning journalist and author of bestsellers including No Logo and Doppelganger, Naomi Klein has become one of today’s most powerful and influential voices across issues ranging from corporate globalisation to social and climate justice. For this forthcoming book, she joins forces with fellow award-winning author and documentarian, Astra Taylor, for a revelatory look at the growing far-right movement, and how we can build a collective response strong enough to stop it.

An apocalyptic alliance of religious fundamentalists, billionaire Silicon Valley tech kings and ethno-nationalists is on the move, towards a catastrophic future from which they are convinced they will be spared. Klein and Taylor investigate how, around the globe, those who are making our world unliveable through climate chaos and job-consuming AI are preparing to protect themselves from the fallout. And yet these new supremacist survivalists remain vulnerable in that they have no vision of a shared future. Now, more than ever, is a critical moment to stand together and defend what’s left of democracy, before it’s smashed up beyond repair.

The authors will join award-winning journalist, photographer and author Sally Hayden for a powerful and ultimately hopeful evening of conversation around how we can collectively break the doom loop and find a better way of living together, rooted in our existence on this earth.

Naomi Klein is an award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker, and the best-selling author of Doppelganger, No Logo, The Shock Doctrine and other acclaimed books, which have been translated into 35 languages. She is associate professor of geography and codirector of the Centre for Climate Justice at the University of British Columbia, and writes a regular column for the Guardian. Doppelganger was the winner of the Women’s Prize for Nonfiction and named one of the ten best books of the year by New York magazine, Slate, and Time.

Astra Taylor is an award-winning writer, activist, documentarian, and co-founder of the Debt Collective. She is the author of The People’s Platform, which won the American Book Award, and Democracy May Not Exist But We’ll Miss It When It is Gone and The Age of Insecurity. Taylor regularly writes for publications including The New Yorker and The New York Times. Taylor toured with the band Neutral Milk Hotel and was the 2023 CBC Massey Lecturer. She is represented by Melissa Flashman at Janklow and Nesbit.

Sally Hayden is an award-winning journalist, photographer and author. Her first book, My Fourth Time, We Drowned: Seeking Refuge on the World’s Deadliest Migration Route won the Orwell Prize for Political Writing, the An Post Irish Book of the Year Award, the Michel Déon Prize, the Terzani Prize, and was shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction, among others. This Is Also a Love Story: Searching for Good in a Divided World’ is Sally’s second book, published May 2026. She was named overall ‘journalist of the year’ at the Irish Journalism Awards in 2023 and 2025.
