Want to learn more about Dublin City, and explore the streets and waterways with us?
What better way to spend the Dublin Book Festival week than taking to the outdoors and joining in on one of our many captivating walking tours! Read on to find out more about just some of the walks we have programme next month.
We’re delighted to be partnering with Waterways Ireland for two great walking tours along the city waterways. If you’re a lover of art and nature then Gwen Wilkinson’s The Waters and the Wild Walking and Sketching Tour is the one for you! Join Gwen, artist, photographer and author of The Waters and the Wild, as you walk and sketch around Ringsend Basin and along the Grand Canal towpath on Thursday 9th November, 1:00pm TICKETS HERE
And if you would like to venture further aong the the Grand Canal, author Jo Kerrigan will be guiding you along the canal as she details the history, life and lore of the waterway over the centuries in her All the Way by the Grand Canal Walking Tour on Friday 10th November, 1:00pm TICKETS HERE
We are also hosting a number of marvellous history walking tours! Explore more of the city and learn more about the history we pass everyday, with the Mount Pleasant Square Walking Tour with Trevor White around one of Dublin’s most beautiful Georgian Squares Saturday 11th of November, 12:00pm TICKETS HERE
As well as that, for a more literary taste of Dublin City, join Chris Morash on his Dublin: A Writer’s City Walking Tour on Sunday 12th November, 12:30pm as he asks what it means to live in a city like Dublin, where almost every street has layers of stories to discovered, from Swift and LeFanu to Joyce, Meehan and Boland TICKETS HERE
Award-winning poet Breda Wall Ryan will be guiding the perfect walking tour for any poetry appreciatiors on Sunday 12th of November, 11:00am. Her These Are My People Poetry Walking Tour will take in the beautiful surrounds of the National Botanic Gardens while Breda reads poems from her third poetry collection, These Are My People and discusses themes of family ties, relationships, and our connection with the natural world around us TICKETS HERE
Pat Liddy returns again for another round of his wonderful Literary Walking Tours! Pat and his guides will be running three tours over the Book Festival weekend on Saturday 11th November at 11am and 2:15 pm, and on Sunday 12th November, 2:30 pm teaching you all about some of the most famous writers associated with Dublin, from the 18th century to today TICKETS HERE
