Introduction

The Royal Irish Academy of Music is Ireland’s oldest conservatoire, ranked in the top 50 institutions in the world for the performing arts. RIAM is located in the Georgian Quarter of Dublin City, minutes from cultural institutions such as the National Gallery of Ireland, Trinity College, the Abbey Theatre and the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. 

Entrance

The entrance to the Royal Irish Academy of Music is located at 36-38 Westland Row. There is wheelchair access available to the left of the main entrance via a lift. Kennedy’s Pub is located across the road, and Bear Market Cafe is beside RIAM to the left of the main entrance.

Transit

Dart/Train 

Dublin Pearse railway station is the closest station to RIAM, located on the same street, just a few meters away. 

Luas

The Green LUAS passes a short distance away, with the Dawson and Trinity stops being the closest, just 600 meters away. 

Bus

Any bus that includes Trinity College, Nassau Street, or Merrion Square travel close to the Academy; however, we suggest checking the TFI Journey Planner to see which best suits.

Driving

There is no car park located at RIAM. Limited public parking nearby on Cumberland Steet, Boyne Street, and Pearse Street is convenient but is often busy. Guests are advised to leave plenty of time to find an available space if you plan to use on-street parking.

Bike

Please consider that there are no bicycle storage spaces at this venue.

Interior

Dublin Book Festival events take place in the Whyte Recital Hall, an acoustically designed horseshoe layout. This is Dublin’s only purpose-built chamber music recital hall, also featuring an upper balcony and choir balcony. 

Accessibility

All new RIAM venues are accessible by wheelchair. Lift access is available from the main lobby and serves all levels from Basement and Ground Floor to Balcony. 

Wheelchair Seats in the Whyte Recital Hall: 8 (4 Stalls level + 4 Balcony level) 

There are a number of bathrooms located in the reception area of the Academy, please ask a member of staff for the nearest one to you. Unisex wheelchair-accessible toilets are on every level of the venue.
